RESPIRATORY PROTECTION

OSHA requires the use of specific levels of respiratory protection when handling hazardous contaminants.

SCBA – Self Contained Breathing Apparatus:

SCBA is the greatest form of respiratory protection used in Level A & B emergency response. It is a positive air-supplying respirator that allows a designated time of air to flow through a full-face gas mask.

Scott SCBA:

	Protects workers from Immediately Dangerous to Life & Health (IDLH) atmospheres; Ammonia IDLH is 300 ppm.
	Provides 30 minutes of air when pressurized at 2216 psi, low pressure
	Features an air-saver switch with automatic restart
	Mounts on back frame for better balance and less fatigue
	Includes bell alarm
	Contains a hairnet with 4-point suspension to prevent pulling

PAPR – Positive Air-Purifying Respirator:

PAPR provides positive flowing filtered air through a respirator. It is generally used when workers’ lungs are not strong enough to utilize a negative pressure cartridge gas mask as determined by a Medical Evaluation or where worker's are required to where a respirator for long shifts.

Breathe-Easy 7 PAPR System:

	Lightweight, non-restrictive respirator
	Provides a steady flow of air for up to eight hours

Full Face Cartridge Respirator:

Respirators allow workers to breathe easily in atmospheres below Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health (IDLH) levels. It is a negative pressure mask that allows the contaminated air to be filtered through a cartridge specific to the contaminant type.

	Wide-view lens for broad field of vision
	Mesh hair net prevents pulling
	Hard coat treated lens resists abrasion and chemicals
	Neoprene rubber seal conforms to facial contours
	Two cartridges included with respirator
